Our Approach

At AWFP, we realise the importance of creating a safe and professional place that will provide women working in the industry a platform and access to the members of the larger tribe. This is one of the reasons why we will be holding the 1st Annual Conference that will take place in Nairobi, Kenya on 22-23 October 2018

Our Story

This is the 1st ever Pan- African Conference specifically focused on Women working in FinTech (Payments). The conference will bring together women from all over Africa for a full day event. The conference will feature interactive panels, deep-dive workshops, and plenary sessions with industry female leaders.


AWFP is positive that, by creating a positive arena in where women can come together to discuss issues relating to Women in FinTech (Payments) Leadership, female founders, bridging the gender gap, pushing more diversity and inspiring future generations of girls into the sector.

AWFP’s team is made up of female leaders with years of experience in fintech & payments.



Founder – African Women in FinTech & Payments

Martha is the Founder of African Women in Fintech & Payments (AWFP) in 2017 after founding European Women Payments Network (EWPN) in 2016. Martha is a young femtech and fintech leader based in The Netherlands.



Co-founder & President, Ovamba & Advisory Board Member- AWFP

Viola Llewellyn is the co-founder and President of Ovamba Solutions, Inc. (www.Ovamba.com). Ovamba is Africa’s first “FinTech” company to create technologies to serve African SMEs with innovative Sharia compliant finance products, eCommerce, and logistics services.



Co-Founder & Chief Technical Officer at Logiciel & Advisory Board Member- AWFP

Farida is the Co-Founder & Chief Technical Officer at Logiciel.Farida is the architect of the gKudi Microfinance Platform, a clouded banking system for the microfinance industry, currently being used by over 60 MFI’s across Ghana.

Chief Commercial Officer- Above The Fold & Independent Management Consultant & Advisory Board Member- AWFP

Lee Ann is the Chief Commercial Office for Above the Fold and an independent management consultant. She provides consulting and project management to financial services and fintec companies seeking to grow their business across Africa.



Group Manager Push Payments at Ecobank & Advisory Board Member- AWFP

Lucy is the Group Manager Push Payments at Ecobank Transnational Incorporated. Prior to that Lucy worked as the Policy and Strategy Advisor for Rwanda Development Board/ ICT Department.

A very passionate leader, speaker and advocate for Africa, Lucy is also on forefront promoting and encouraging young women to pursue careers in technology.



Chief Operating Officer (COO), AC group Ltd & Advisory Board Member- AWFP

Salma is Chief Operating Officer (COO), AC group Ltd. As the COO, Salma is responsible for day-to-day operations of the business, coordinating systems and resources, develop business strategies for future growth and maintain the company’s competitive position within the industry.



Senior Director, Financial Inclusion, Sub Saharan Africa- Visa & Advisory Board Member- AWFP

Topyster is the Senior Director, Financial Inclusion, Sub Saharan Africa- Visa where she leads the development and implementation of Visa’s Financial Inclusion strategy and programs in Africa to deliver value while expanding access to the underserved.
